Regional Level
The development of the Environmental Performance Index in the context of Thailand (EPI Thailand) at the area-based level aims to enable regional and provincial agencies to use indicator assessment results as supporting information for planning and project development in a clear direction. It also enables agencies to improve the scores of low-performing indicators in a targeted manner. This is an important mechanism for improving Thailand’s environmental management toward sustainability.
Based on the collection of area-based data, it was found that only 15 out of the 34 EPI Thailand indicators currently have area-based data.
The implementation of the EPI Thailand is organized according to the regional classification of the National The National Geo-informatics Board into six regions: the Northern, Central, Northeastern, Eastern, Western, and Southern regions. Bangkok Metropolitan Region (BMR), comprising Bangkok, Samut Prakan, Nonthaburi, and Pathum Thani provinces, is presented separately from the Central region due to differences in geographical characteristics and environmental issues from other provinces in the Central region.

Remarks : Due to data limitations from various agencies, some EPI Thailand indicators cannot yet be reported at the regional level. In the future, a phased roadmap for regional data reporting development must be established alongside institutional capacity building to ensure comprehensive regional EPI Thailand reporting that effectively supports policy decision-making.
